The Latest

Check out Jackson's four little teeth. They make him look so much like a little boy instead of a baby. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but life has been a little crazy. I will post more on that in a short while. I wanted to update yall on what Jackson has been up to lately. Here are some fun facts:

1. He has four teeth
2. He is starting to run
3. He started dancing
4. He is constantly talking and is mimicking now alot of what we say
5. His favorite thing still, is to be outside
6. He loves slides
7. He has started climbing on EVERYTHING
8. He eats everything from yogurt and fruit to creamed spinach
9. He laughs at himself when he passes gas
10. He has started blowing kisses
Oh yeah, and I have had numerous requests to update about the poopin' thing. Well, we haven't gone on the potty in about three weeks. He still says "poo poo", but it is after the fact instead of before. He still goes and then wants to walk into the bathroom to flush the toilet. So, he is a little confused, but at least he is still some what interested. I am sure there will be plenty more blogs on this subject in the future so I will keep you updated.
There are just so many things that this little 14 month old is doing! I can't believe how fast children learn. It really is remarkable! Well, I promise to keep blogging and to fill you all in our family's crazy adventures. Stay tuned!!!!!

25 Random Things

Ok, in honor of a note I got on facebook that was a challenge to list 25 random facts about yourself, I decided to blog about it. Some of these things will probably be obvious to some of you, but some other facts might be a bit surprising so, in case you were wondering about some weird facts, here we go......

1. I can not eat anything that swims; Fish, lobster, crab....and especially not anything with antenna and eyeballs! I just do not get the craw fish thing at all!
2. One of my greatest childhood memories is learning to water ski on the back of my Uncle Keith's boat in Kentucky. Water skiing is still one of my most favorite things to do.
3.I tried out for the Olympic Bobsled team in college with my sister and great friend Amy. We tried out at A&M in the dead of summer. We didn't receive any call backs.
4. I have had a fish and three cats in my lifetime. My dad killed our fish, accidentally dropping him down the drain when he was cleaning out the bowl. I can still hear the disposal when he flipped the switch. Our first two cats died of some type of cancer and Bruiser is still with my parents. We love that sweet cat!
5. We were in Nac at the humane society getting Bruiser when the Challenger exploded over the area. We had to help block off and guard some debree because there weren't enough people to watch all of it.
6. Jess and I got thrown out of the campus police station in Nac for "causing a scene". Lets just say it was a "rent-a-cop" who went all power trippy on us. We are typically very respectful people, but this man started attacking our character. Thats when we spoke our mind....loudly. We didn't have to pay the ticket though.
7. I laugh on roller coasters. I think it is the stomach in the throat thing, but flying through the air makes me laugh to the point of not breathing. It is a blast!!!
8. I was fortunate enough that I did not have to pay for any of my college education, including my Master's degree. A really nice man from Tyler who loved Lady Jack basketball paid for my sister and me to get our Masters degree at SFA. It was such a blessing!
9. I am directionally dyslexic. I can't read a map. It might as well be in Japanese, and I couldn't tell you which way North was if you told me. I need very clear cut directions or I might never make it.
10. I have participated in two adventure races, each about 10 hours long and ran four half marathons.
11. One of my most vivid childhood memories is at my Auntie and Jim's basement. My sister, our cousin Phil, and me would play there while all the adults played cards and stuff upstairs. My cousin Ginger had a dog named Hoosier, who she decided to feed chili one night. The adults locked that dog down in the basement with us cause he was stinkin' so bad. It was horrible!!!
12. I can't watch scary movies. I will end up having nightmares about it for a week.
13. I had a huge crush on Kirk Cameron when I was young, and now I say that Lou Holtz is my boyfriend. What can I say, I love old people. Not in a creepy way, just in a, they're just so cute I could bear hug 'em kind of way. Don't tell me that lisp of his doesn't scream cutie pie!!!!

14. I have never broken any serious bones, but in the course of one game at TJC I got my nose broke, chipped my bottom teeth and broke my finger, while I played on a fractured tibia. Not the best game of my life.
15. I was more nervous at my sister's wedding than at my own.
16. When I was pregnant I craved raw potatoes. My weirdest snack was a raw potato and sour patch kids. I couldn't stand the taste or the sight of chocolate.
17. I never "Kissed Dating Goodbye" but I just never really dated. Boys were intimidating! Now, I can't believe I was ever intimidated by my goofy husband. Joey, I mean that in the very nicest way possible. You know I love your goofiness!
18. I love the rain. There is something about it that brings me peace. I think it might be just feeling God's huge hand on me or that he is everywhere and so big and I am so small. Anyway, I would play in the rain everyday if I could. (If its not cold)
19. My bridesmaids and I got lost going to our rehearsal dinner and everyone waited over an hour for us to get there. They applauded when we finally made our grand entrance.
20. I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 21. I never even really thought much about it. I never wore much jewelry.
21. I once spent Valentine's Day with, Big Black Boykin. Well, ok it was Joey dressed as Big and I was dressed like Rob. Scary how much I actually look like a boy. Sorry for the bad picture, but Joey had head to toe body paint on. If you have never seen the show, "Rob and Big" than this won't be funny, but I have, and let me tell ya, its funny. This was for a valentines day costume party we attended a few years ago.

22. I had three jobs while getting my master's degree at SFA. I was a "smoothie technician" (as I like to call it) at Smoothie King in the mornings, mid afternoons I was the "on campus marketing rep for Coca Cola", and I was an assistant to the athletic director helping out with games and other tedious jobs. And I think it goes without saying that Jess also worked at these three places.
23. I once got in a dumpster to search for a friend's retainer. It was last period in middle school and it was while the boys were having football practice. The lunch that day had been chili dogs, and we had found it in the 13th bag we searched.
24. Once in high school our 4X1 relay team sat in a circle on the ground while my sister prayed that "it would rain like its never rained before" so we didn't have to do the track meet. Within 10 minutes the sky was green and we had to take shelter in the concession stand because the storm was so bad. We thought we had brought back the 40 days and nights of rain. We found out later that it was a tornado that touched down close by. We never underestimated the power of prayer after that.
25. The worst fight I witnessed was while playing in an AAU basketball game. A crazy mother from the other team came running through the court while we were playing, and attacked our coach. She slammed her high heel into her foot and punched her in her face. The stands cleared and the refs ran away. It was every man for himself at that point. The game was called with a few minutes left to go and all the players and fans were kicked out. My coach ended up with two black eyes and a broken foot. I'm not a fighter, so I just stood there. I guess I could have tried to help my coach, but I just watched. Sorry coach.

Family Fun!!!

We took some family pictures the other day outside. I love getting outside with my camera and just capturing all the silliness of Jackson and Joey. They are fun subjects to photograph. I have to mention that this first picture of Jackson is the spitting image of my sister as a baby! Hope you enjoy the pictures.
